Community and Events Manager
Fixed term for 9 months (maternity cover)
Battersea,London
Ref: BDCH351
At Battersea Dogs & Cats Home we’re a skilled, close-knit community of professionals – an incredibly diverse range of people, but united by our passion for what we do. We’re looking for committed team players with great energy, drive and talent to help us continue to change the lives of thousands of animals every year.
It’s an exciting time to join Battersea’s Fundraising Team which has grown from 5 to 27 people over the last two years, increasing voluntary income from £1.7m to nearly £7m. And we don’t want to stop. We’re ambitious and care passionately about the dogs and cats in our care and want to raise more so we can do more.
Community fundraising is a new area of fundraising for the Home, which we have identified as having great potential for growth. This role will lead on establishing the programme and proactively identifying and engaging community audiences, setting up fundraising groups, and motivating and inspiring them to raise money. Initially starting with audiences in the London and South East, this post will be out and about developing positive and productive networks to drive income for the Home.
You will also need to have experience of fundraising events and be able to demonstrate commercial success in a community and events role, as well as the ability to establish and develop volunteer fundraising groups. Exceptional people skills are essential and experience of setting, managing and meeting targets is a must. Familiarity with Raisers Edge or similar would also be an advantage.
Closing: 30 August 2012. Interviews: 6 September 2012.
