One year temporary contract

 

Our client is a National Christian Charity that specialises in providing at risk marginalised groups – including those leaving prison, with accommodation, support and rehabilitation. 

 

They now have a fantastic opportunity for a Accommodation Advice Worker to join the Bedford/Luton team for a one year temporary contract. You will be meeting with clients of Bedfordshire Probation Trust in order to support individuals and to provide advice on housing and benefits. You will also need to be knowledgeable on securing safe and appropriate accommodation, advising and guiding individuals in making well informed and realistic decisions.

 

You'll meet with a number of organisations, including housing associations, local authority housing departments, social services departments, welfare rights organisations and the citizen’s advice bureaux. During these meetings it would be your job to keep records, write reports, attend and organise meetings, and ensure you are up to date with up and coming housing solutions in the local area for the client group

 

Our client are looking for a reliable and understanding character that has a keen desire to learn. With an appreciation of the work our client do, you will need to be an excellent communicator, with literacy and computer skills. You will need to have a proven ability to work within a team, as well as a discrete nature. Previous experience in working with ex-offenders is advantageous, as is understanding of the voluntary sector and a motivation to help disadvantaged groups.

 

If you are flexible and adaptable, and able reflect the Project's challenging and demanding nature, our client can ensure you'll gain experience of working within the criminal justice field.
