About the role

The National Trust is changing – and fast. As a charity, we rely heavily on the income we generate through our various fundraising activities and channels. This is why this role is so important and your experience so vital. Currently we have an ambitious fundraising vision in place and some exciting new projects on the horizon which we want you to be part of, and ultimately, help shape.

As a fundraising expert you’ll be a vital support to colleagues as you share your knowledge, which will help property teams secure the funding they need to deliver their business plans and achieve their long-term aspirations for the special places we help to look after. This could be anything from advice on corporate fundraising through to grant applications. In this role you’ll also develop and nurture relationships with our donors and supporters, helping to generate support for our cause and allowing us to achieve our financial sustainability.

In this role you’ll work 18.75 hours per week. This can be 2.5 days or three days one week and two days the next. This role will be known internally as ‘Fundraising Consultant’.

About you

You’ve significant experience of fundraising and securing major sponsorship, with a track record of cultivating major donors and building long-term relationships with supporters. Thanks to considerable experience of working in a professional environment, you know exactly what it takes to deliver an outstanding consultancy service. Ideally, you’re a member of the Institute of Fundraising, with good knowledge of relevant legislation and lottery, local authority, public sector and other grant schemes and programmes. With excellent influencing and negotiating skills, you’re also a strong project manager who can coach, mentor and inspire people you work with.

Incredibly rewarding

We expect a lot, but we’ll offer a great deal in return, starting with stimulating and challenging work and the opportunity to help us achieve our bold ambitions. We value your contribution, recognise the importance of a work-life balance, and are committed to your continued development. You can also look forward to free admission to all our incredible places, plus a helpful 20% off at our shops, cafes and restaurants. But they’re just the benefits we can tell you about here.

Here at the National Trust, we want even more people to enjoy our extraordinary places. We want people of all ages and backgrounds to get involved with them, be inspired by them, and love them as much as we do. That’s why we’ve put some bold ambitions in place. We want everyone in England, Wales and Northern Ireland to feel like a member of the National Trust and, by 2020, we want to have grown our membership to more than five million.
