The Community Director is responsible to the Board of Trustees for the overall strategy, direction, development and management of the Community and of the business activities supporting the overall business aims and objectives of Emmaus Cambridge, working within Emmaus principles and policies and in collaboration with Emmaus International/Emmaus UK. The Director must also, working with the Community Manager, play an active role in the development and empowerment of Companions.
Emmaus works with vulnerable people. The post holder must always act in a way which will maintain the good reputation of Emmaus Cambridge, upholding the policies and procedures of Emmaus. The post holder will strive to preserve good working relationships with Staff, Volunteers, Companions and the Trustees, keeping the appropriate key personnel well informed of significant matters relating to the Community.
The Director will develop a strong and collaborative working relationship with the Chair and the Board of Trustees in order to fulfil the purpose and objectives of the Community by working creatively in the following areas:-
Strategic planning and Management
Development of Companions
Finance and Budgetary Management
Facilities and Operations Management
Business Development
Recruitment and Management of Staff and Volunteers
External Relationships within the Emmaus Movement, other local agencies and the media
In Emmaus, volunteers are an important resource and make a vital contribution to Emmaus’s aim to take action to help disadvantaged people. The post holder will also be expected to encourage, develop and support volunteer involvement in our work.
