Further information

Save the Children works with the poorest children in the UK and across the globe.

For 90 years we have had a valuable volunteer force and we recognise the tremendous value volunteers bring. However we have not had a central strategy or focal point for volunteers across the entire UK operation.

We’ve now developed a vision for volunteering led by our Board. Key to its success is the new senior role of Head of Volunteering Development. The role will work across Save the Children to ensure the vision translates into clear embedded strategy.

This will be delivered through providing leadership in the implementation of an organisation wide volunteering vision, strategies and policies, ensuring harmonisation of best practice across the business, and the provision of quality volunteering opportunities.

You will have the opportunity to:

*Develop a framework and culture to support volunteering, demonstrating an inspirational approach to embedding volunteering into the DNA of Save the Children, integrating across the organisation

*Lead in setting up an organisation-wide Volunteer Management Board, ensuring goals are aligned and incorporated into divisional strategies

*Delivery a volunteer management framework, which includes the creation of universal policies, procedures in order that volunteering, has a coherent and consistent approach

*Create tools, systems and processes that allow the organisation to be flexible and responsive to volunteers

As Save the Children’s driving force for volunteering we see you bringing to the role experience developing innovative volunteering vision and strategy, leading change in a complex organisation. You’ll also need an understanding of legislative and safeguarding requirements specific to managing volunteers, developing practical policies in support of strategies.

In return we offer the opportunity to create and implement your vision at the world’s children’s charity with our 700 UK based staff.

Before applying please read our ‘Vision for Volunteering’ attached to our web site advert.
