The European Council on Refugees and Exiles is a pan-European, 70-strong alliance of refugee-assisting NGOs, established to promote the rights of those who seek protection in Europe. ECRE’s clear aim is to promote their protection and integration, based on the values of human dignity, human rights and an ethic of solidarity.
ECRE is seeking a new Secretary General to inspire and drive their strategic development within a dynamic social and political environment. The Secretary General will collaboratively develop all strategic planning and actively engage membership at every stage, representing the organisation across Europe, developing relationships, raising media profile and maximising their impact through policy development and advocacy.
The ideal candidate will have:
· significant experience at a senior management level coupled with very strong strategic skills
· cultural and political awareness - a good understanding of Europe’s political systems and how to influence them
· an understanding of fundraising and the ability to negotiate and build relationships at the highest levels
· a strong commitment to working for those seeking international protection and a background in working with or for an NGO.
