This grant-giving foundation gives annual grants of £500,000 to good causes. It currently operates out of a small office in central London with a part-time administrator, who is shortly retiring. Following a strategic review, it has been decided that areas of support for the foreseeable future will be carers, and the rehabilitation of offenders.
The board is therefore seeking a Director to run the organisation for an interim period (minimum one year). Main areas of responsibility will be research, development and implementation of new grant giving strategy; carrying out the communications plan including new website development; overseeing office operations and maintaining close contact with the chairman and trustees.
We are looking for someone with senior level voluntary sector experience, together with financial acumen and knowledge of charity governance. Experience in grant giving would be desirable but is not essential. Above all you will be an excellent networker who can represent the trust to charities and key players in our new areas of interest, and who has the skills to research and write reports to help the trustees make grant making decisions.
This is a part-time post of around three days a week. Some degree of flexible working (eg possible annualised hours) and location is offered, and there is a possibility of the post eventually becoming permanent subject to future staffing requirements.
