Chair of the National Children’s Bureau
Reference: 1231
Our client, The National Children’s Bureau (NCB) is a leading research and development charity working to improve the lives of children and young people, especially the most vulnerable. They work with children, for children, by influencing government policy, being the voice of front-line professionals, and inspiring practical solutions on a range of social issues including health, education and youth justice. Every year they reach many thousands of children and young people through their membership schemes, links with voluntary, statutory and private organisations, and the specialist partnership programmes that operate under their charitable status.
Dame Gillian Pugh has chaired NCB for six years. They are now seeking to appoint a new Chair with a passion for children and young people’s issues, a commitment to respect and champion their views and demonstrable experience at a senior level in a complex organisation.
This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with the knowledge and drive to support a developing and forward thinking organisation to help it achieve its ambitious aims and objectives.
The main tasks of the Chair are:
• To lead the Board, ensuring that it fulfils its responsibilities for diligent governance
• To provide strategic leadership, so that NCB fulfils its mission and charitable objectives
• To work in partnership with the Chief Executive to ensure financial sustainability, through the development and delivery of our strategic plan
• To represent and promote NCB and its work to existing and potential partners and stakeholders, both inside and outside the children’s and young people’s sector.
The Chair, like all NCB trustees, is appointed for an initial three-year term and after that is eligible to stand for a further three-year term. It is an unpaid honorary post, but reasonable expenses are reimbursed.
Closing date for applications is 10am, Friday 8th June 2012.
Interviews are scheduled for Tuesday 3rd July 2012.
Full details and application forms are available on our client’s website. If you feel you are the right person for this job, please click to apply now, you will then be taken directly to the charity’s website to complete the application form. Please quote job title and reference number.
PLEASE NOTE THAT OUR CLIENT DOESN'T ACCEPT CV'S.
The NCB are committed to equal opportunities.
