Assistant Director - External Relations

The Assistant Director - External Relations will provide strong and visible leadership for the new External Relations function at this large national charity. You will develop and lead an integrated programme of external relations activity including marketing, policy, national and regional campaigning, digital communications and PR. You will build strong and positive working relationships across the organisation and with the wider world, especially service users, their families and carers, policy makers and influencers, the media and external partners to ensure the charity increases its standing and reputation amongst key target audiences while achieving its strategic aims and objectives.

You will come with proven skills in research, planning, running and evaluating large scale social marketing or public awareness raising campaigns. Proven experience in raising awareness of a cause and increasing stakeholder engagement with significant experience of policy, lobbying and campaigning including working with ministers, parliamentarians, senior civil servants, media and service users. Managing and motivating a large and diverse team of staff including performance management, objective setting and appraising performance is key.
