The Assistant Director - Communities will provide strong and visible leadership for the new Communities function at this leading national health charity. You will develop and lead an integrated programme of communities focused activity including regional campaigning, partnership working with local groups, membership, volunteering, advice and information provision. You will build strong and positive working relationships across the organisation and with the wider world to ensure the charity increases its standing and reputation amongst key target audiences especially groups, service users, their families and carers, members, volunteers, and the wider local community while achieving its strategic aims and objectives.
You will be a proven leader, with senior management experience gained in the voluntary sector. You will have excellent experience of liaising with local community groups, ideally in a membership and/or federated charity structure. Proven skills in research, planning, running and evaluating community engagement and/or service user engagement and/or volunteering activity is a must. You will have proven experience in raising awareness of a cause within a specific audience and increasing stakeholder engagement whilst managing and motivating a large and diverse team of staff including performance management, objective setting and appraising performance. User involvement experience, working with volunteers, experience in running integrated organisation-wide projects is also essential.
