Age Concern Hampshire is a medium sized charity with a turnover of £2.7m and 181 paid employees and 452 people who regularly offer their services in a voluntary capacity. We raise money locally to help local people, and continuously develop our services for the older people of Hampshire. We are an independent charity, choosing not to be affiliated with Age UK, enabling us to provide a strong voice for the people of Hampshire.
The Director is accountable to the Board of Trustees and is responsible for the day to day running of the Charity. As such (s)he is responsible for: advising the Board of Trustees on policy; devising strategies for its implementation; monitoring and evaluation; high level co-ordination; managing the external environment; painting the vision and giving strategic direction; leadership and people development.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate an understanding of, and empathy for, older people and the issues that affect them. The successful applicant will also have an understanding of social policy as it relates to older people and a grasp of the structure and responsibilities of the NHS and Local Government. You should be able to manage a complex budget and demonstrate an ability to manage a geographically spread workforce.
Benefits include 25 days leave initially (in addition to bank holidays), increasing to 28 days after 5 years service and 31 days after 20 years service. Accrued entitlement with regard to applicable continuous service will be honoured.
All employees are eligible to join the Local Government Pension Scheme, subject to rules and provisions of the scheme. Also provided: parking, essential car user allowance and mileage rate paid for necessary journeys in line with local authority rates.
