Rent Officer / Income Officer (Social Housing)

Commencing at £20,427 pro rata
Working an average of 18.5 hours per week with a working pattern of one full week on followed by one full week off.
Our client is a social landlord in the Tees Valley area.
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and self-motivated person to join their Rents Team. Duties will include assisting in the provision of an efficient and effective debt prevention and recovery service whilst achieving high standards of customer care.
The successful candidate will work as a team member with responsibility for maximising income and reducing debt levels of current and former tenants through the promotion of a ‘rent first’ culture ensuring access to sensitive and appropriate help and advice.
The key responsibilities include:
• Pro-actively working towards early, regular contact with tenants including telephone contact and home visits, to prevent and reduce debt and to maximise income.
• Rent account management.
• Taking formal recovery action.
• Assisting in the development and implementation of effective practices between the Rents Team, the Benefit and Money Advice team and District Office Teams.
• Liaising with external agencies and district-based staff and working in partnership to assist the overall debt recovery process.
Experience in a customer focussed service and knowledge of debt recovery procedures are essential. The ability to organise workloads to meet deadlines and targets is also essential. The successful applicant will also be committed to achieving performance targets.
