The Brooke is the UK’s largest international charity dedicated to working equine welfare - improving the lives of horses, donkeys and mules working in some of the poorest communities in the world.

The Brooke’s aim is to increase the number of working equine animals we reach every year from 700,000 to 5 million. These animals support the lives of 30 million poor people, making the Brooke the animal charity that helps people too.

The Brooke has grown rapidly over the last two years and continued international growth is planned. A new Director of Resources is sought to drive the organisation’s international financial strategy and take the lead on broader corporate resource management.

The Role

• Provide strategic leadership and operational management to the finance, governance, HR, IT, information and supporter services teams.
• Play a leading role in the development of the overall direction of the Brooke, particularly in increasing the organisation’s capacity to deliver services to the developing world.
• Work closely with worldwide managers and partner organisations in ensuring excellent financial planning and control.

The Candidate

• Qualified accountant; already a Finance Director or an ambitious number two with Board level experience of managing broader corporate resources.
• A proven team leader, a strong communicator, and the ability to drive new initiatives through an international organisation.
• Experience of managing or operating alongside organisations in the developing world would be a significant advantage.
