Location: Bedford office, covering Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Northants and Rutland.
The Company:
The National Childminding Association is helping to change the shape of childcare and early years services in England and Wales. NCMA is in an exciting period of change and are looking for key professionals with the vision and expertise to build on our performance and deliver exceptional results across our South and Central divisions.
As Area Operations Manager your main responsibilities will involve:
- Building relationships and managing projects with national governments, local authorities and other statutory agencies to ensure resources are used effectively to promote home-based childcare, delivering quality services and achieving income generation targets, within your designated area
- Providing line-management for Project Managers and offering support to your project teams
- Working closely with the Senior Operations Managers (SOMs), providing feedback from childminders, supporting volunteers, and ensuring quality delivery and customer satisfaction
- Responsibility for the achievement of agreed income targets for the sales of NCMA’s products and services in your designated area
As Area Operations Manager your skills and qualifications will include:
- Experience of the early years and childcare sector would be beneficial
- Excellent project management skills - in a customer-focussed environment - with a proven capacity to organise human and financial resources
- Experience of negotiating and securing funding through contracting, tendering or bidding
- The ability to prepare and interpret financial information, and experience of developing and implementing financial reporting and administrative processes
- Excellent Time Management and Organisational skills, with a proven ability to deliver in a deadline-driven environment
- Excellent communication skills, with an ability to work with people at all levels – within NCMA and within government and statutory agencies and local authorities
- Proactive, self-sufficient and able to work from minimal initial instruction
- Acting as a strong team player, with a positive, “can-do” attitude
- Possessing strong motivational and coaching skills to encourage staff development within NCMA
- Intermediate knowledge of M/S Excel NS other Microsoft Office programmes
- Demonstrable experience of supporting and developing volunteers
- The ability to demonstrate anti-discriminatory practice in all areas of work
- The ability to travel occasionally throughout England & Wales, with infrequent overnight stays
