Corporate Fundraising and Liaison Office

9 people are killed on Britain’s roads every day. Brake, the nationally-acclaimed road safety charity, aims to stop these needless, tragic, and devastating violent deaths, and to support the families that are ripped apart.

We need a corporate fundraising and liaison officer to develop and maintain relationships with our valued blue-chip Corporate Partners who give an annual corporate donation to the charity and support us in many other ways - from promoting road safety in their companies, to sponsoring particular projects we run, to getting teams of their staff to climb mountains in aid of us. You will also be responsible for seeking new Corporate Partners to join our ever-growing list of supporters, ranging from the Royal Bank of Scotland, to FedEx and Direct Line.

You will have experience of fundraising or relationship-building in a corporate environment and also be an excellent communicator. You are just as comfortable giving presentations and ‘closing the deal’ to gain a company’s support as writing an engaging article for a Corporate Partner’s website. Most of all, you will be a dynamic and enthusiastic personality who can feel and express a deep, and heartfelt passion for the cause and want to build a career at the heart of a committed and creative team.

Duties include:

  •  Building close relationships with existing Corporate Partners to ensure their support for the charity is maintained and developed;
  •  Seeking new Corporate Partners through research of possible partnerships and direct approach of relevant leads;
  •  Acting as a first point of call for all Corporate Partners to provide them with support for their road safety campaigns and fundraising activities, and ensuring that the support they require is provided in a timely and expert fashion;
  •  Ensuring that Corporate Partnerships are promoted in an appropriate and high-visible manner, for example on our website, through case studies featured in our resources, etc; and generally being an ambassador for Corporate Partners across the charity;
  •  Undertaking relevant communications functions, including giving presentations at Corporate Partner events, writing articles for Corporate Partner in-house magazines, coordinating and presenting to group meetings of Corporate Partners in Parliament, etc.
  •  Developing and managing additional and related donation schemes, including our Corporate Donor and Affiliated Organisation schemes

Person specification

The successful applicants will have:

  •  a genuine and heart-felt commitment to the cause of road safety and the need for care for families bereaved and injured by road crashes;
  •  a demonstrably successful career history of at least two years in fundraising or a related field relating to corporate or sales work, in
  • any deadline and target-driven environment;
  •  excellent writing skills and experience;
  •  excellent inter-personal and negotiation skills and experience of building solid, productive relationships with external stakeholders at the highest level;
  •  a systems-driven and target-driven approach to work;
  •  a real team player who wants to specialise in their role and give it ‘their all’;
  •  an understanding the importance of recording and monitoring spreadsheets and experience of using systems in a systematic and diligent manner;
  •  an energetic, positive approach to work and commitment to get the job done and build and develop on previous successes
