Area Volunteer Manager
£19,000 - £26,000 plus car, Home based (covering Bedfordshire and North Herts. areas)
At Cancer Research UK we’re really excited. Our Community Fundraising department is already the market leader in our competitive sector and we want it to stay that way. That’s why we have a new direction and growing role within the organisation and need skilled Area Volunteer Managers to share and drive our ambitions over the next five years and beyond. As an Area Volunteer Manager you will bring out the best in people enabling them to use their time and skills in a fulfilling way that makes a real difference to the charity and ultimately cancer patients. You will drive Cancer Research UK’s volunteer led activity in your area. You will work with volunteers and build an ongoing relationship with them, inspiring them to do a variety of activities in their communities in order to deliver your objectives.
As a key part of your role you will be embedding Relay For Life, a fast-growing new fundraising event, in your area. Relay For Life will grow to be a leading event across the country and is currently the largest fundraising event in the USA.
Your background, whether in the private, public or third sector should reflect the commercial imperatives of the role. You will have experience of managing volunteers, people or projects along with knowledge of the voluntary sector. You will be able to work independently, making your own decisions but also as part of a team. You will be a confident public speaker with strong networking skills and a proven ability to build relationships with a diverse range of people.
This is an autonomous role and will involve extensive travel and the need for flexibility.
