Job: Head of Finance, Art Services Grants Ltd

SPACE is an arts educational charity that provides affordable studios for visual artists and creative businesses in London. The first and largest London studio provider, founded by artists in 1968, its 17 leasehold sites currently provide studios for over 600 artists. Innovative programmes in Media Arts, Exhibitions, Community Development Collaborations, Professional Development and International Artist Residencies all encourage the prosperity of artists and the creativity of communities local to SPACE buildings.

The Head of Finance will be responsible for the day to day operation of the financial function of SPACE (Art Services Grants Limited), providing an effective financial management and reporting service to Trustees, managers and external stakeholders, ensuring appropriate and effective financial systems and procedures are in place and operational, managing finance staff and working closely with non-finance managers and budget holders to empower and increase understanding and awareness of finance issues.

We are seeking a qualified accountant, with at least two years’ post-qualification experience, to take on this demanding role. You will have experience of working in a management team, with responsibility for delivering department objectives. You will need to demonstrate a strong understanding of SORP and the Charities Act. Knowledge of the property sector would be a bonus. You will also need a practical understanding of finance department processing procedures and systems, including payroll, strong communication skills, and diplomacy, combined with flexibility and a capacity to prioritise.

The role will be part-time, 4 days per week. The deadline for applications is 9am Tuesday 27th May. Interviews will take place on Wednesday 4th or Thursday 5th June.
