Tell me about Elfrida Rathbone Camden and what you do

ERC has been based in Camden for over 30 years working to achieve independence, empowerment and personal development for disabled people and families in North London. My role as publicity and marketing worker is to make sure that people in the local community who might benefit from our services know what we do, as well as sharing information with professionals, funders and commissioners.

What role are you currently recruiting for and what does it involve?

We are recruiting for a senior fundraising manager who will be responsible for seeking and securing income from a variety of sources that include grants and contracts from trusts, foundations, local authorities and corporate supporters. This part-time post has been created in recognition of our need to continue to expand, develop and sustain our effective service delivery models for work with families, social action for young disabled people and advocacy support for people who face immense barriers in getting their needs and choices heard.

What kind of person are you looking for?

We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic, organised team player who has had past substantial success in generating income for organisations.

The right candidate will be experienced in developing high quality funding proposals and will be comfortable liaising with a wide audience including senior staff in funding organisations and grantmaking trusts or foundations, service users and trustees. They must be committed to supporting and working to Elfrida Rathbone Camden’s goals, vision and values.

What exciting projects are you working on?

We currently have four major projects:

  • The Leighton Education Project offers truly person-centred further education for young adults aged 16-25 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Inclusion Works is an into employment project, supporting young people aged 16-25 with SEND to find and carry out meaningful paid and voluntary work.
  • Young People for Inclusion (YPFI) are a social enterprise made up of young disabled people delivering disability awareness training and accessibility audits to organisations and businesses.

What opportunities for training and development are there?

We access a broad range of training opportunities in Camden and beyond and are committed to ongoing staff development.

What tips would you offer applicants?

ERC is at an exciting time of development. Show us how you can develop an effective and successful strategy for engaging with commissioning opportunities, trusts, grant makers and corporate funders going forwards. We want to hear how you can encourage and ensure sustainability and development for our services to help ERC continue with the valuable and recognised work we do today and make sure we continue to stay relevant.
