Co-host a party and make a difference

World Vision is the world’s largest international children’s charity. Our core aim is to bring hope to the millions of children living in the world’s hardest places. Poverty, wars and natural disasters mean that children have to live in the face of adversity everyday of their young lives. They are often frightened and hungry and are in danger of exploitation. These experiences rob them of their childhood – a time that should be carefree and happy.

In 1950, American Missionary, Bob Pierce set up World Vision to help children orphaned by the Korean War. Before long, World Vision supporters were sending money to care for children in need in other Asian countries, then in Latin America, Africa, Eastern Europe and the Middle East.
Child sponsorship remains at the heart of World Vision, and the bond between sponsors and children is as strong as ever. But our approach has evolved. From focusing on individual children, we now work with whole communities to bring about long-term change for all.

As with all long-term fundraising initiatives, things need to evolve and change to keep up with demand and keep sponsors engaged. Here at World Vision, we decided we would like to try something completely new in the fundraising space. We wanted people to immerse themselves in the culture of a country – like Sierra Leone – from the comfort of their own homes.

We came up with a party at home ‘party plan’ – called Calabash – that is loosely based on the Tupperware parties of yesteryear, but with a new twist. The parties are designed to be a wholly immersive experience, based in Sierra Leone. Guests will hear the story of 14 year-old Jenneh (pictured below) via audio clips and film. The way in which the clips and the story are presented will be surprising, moving and uplifting.

Every party-giver will be paired with a World Vision Home Experience Representative, who will lead the evening and ensure everyone has an amazing experience – without a hard sell.

We are looking to recruit World Vision Home Experience Representatives. Are you passionate about making a difference to the lives of children and communities worldwide? The positions will suit those wishing to work flexibly. You will be paid and will not be expected to pay any fees upfront. For every party you undertake, you will receive a fee of £30, plus a £75 commission on every signed-up child sponsor – however, this will be paid in 3 monthly instalments. - We are looking for genuine people with passion and commitment.
